Pay Your Own Travel Costs to Pose With Top Photographer in Big City
By Shawn Petrovich of Totally Ripped of Los Angeles, which specializes in photography and video of fitness models.
If you live outside of a big city, you will need to pay for your travel cost just to be able to hold a photo shoot with a top photographer in a modeling mecca like Los Angeles. You can earn back your investment if the photographer publishes the photos, but there is no guarantee of this.
Your travel cost will be picked up in the future if you end up getting hired for a job. This first visit is just introductory to the big time. So, at the begining, YOU pay for your own travel cost just to get your foot in the door.
These factors are not a top photographer's responsibility:
1) You live far away from the photographer
2) You may not be comfortable flying to a big city
3) You want a free trip
Very few professionals will pay for travel cost for a new model who they have never worked with. If you want something, you need to be prepared to invest in your career. Travel cost is an investment in your modeling career, because it will help your career in the long run.
Your Shoot is Free, You Just Need to Get to the Shoot
Ironically, new male models can obtain photos from a top photographer free of charge if he is able to visit the city where the photographer's studio is located. Top photographers usually will not charge fees to new models, especially guys who live outside their city.
However, these photographers will not pay for your airfare or hotel. Many famous photographers who could "make or break" your career would love to fit a hot new model like you in for a quick photo shoot in between his busy schedule. He just aint gonna pay to fly you to his city!
More importantly, you will get to know a modeling industry professional. Getting yourself to a major city actually propels your career. Shooting with a hometown photographer only results in receiving nice pictures that will likely do little to propel your career. Once you have proven your ability to get yourself to a major city to create your portfolio, the photographer can trust that you will actually show up if he offers you future Model Jobs.
Get Better Quality Photos, Meet Modeling Industry Professionals
Not only will he not charge you, you will likely obtain better quality photos than you would receive if you pay a hometown photographer to shoot you.
So, don't spend $350 for a photo shoot in your hometown. Spend that money on airfare to get to a top notch photographer in a big city. If the photographer is located thousands of miles away from you, you need to get to his city for the goal of shooting with him - at your expense.
Since your shoot is free, you can use the money you would have wasted on a hometown photographer, to pay for an airplane flight and a cheap hotel for two nights. You can either pay $750 to a hometown photographer, or pay $300 for airfare and $70 for a hotel room to be able to travel to a top-notch photographer - and help your modeling career much more!
